Cigars were introduced to western Europe by meso-America via Europeans returning home. Today the majority of cigars are still produced in the New World (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, United States) and to a lesser degree in Cameroon, Indonesia and The Philippines.
Generally, any company producing cigars is one that is based on a family tradition where the craft of making cigars has been passed down from generation to generation. El Beso is a relatively new line of cigars started by a woman whose only claim to tradition was her work in a cigar production facility in her native Nicaragua.
