Watch Your Toothpaste…

Counterfeit toothpaste was found in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.  They are found with the poison glycol in them. (This is the same poison as is in antifreeze.)

The counterfeits have so far been Colgate brand.

They are easily distinguished by markings that say “Manufactured in South Africa” and a few other misspellings.  It is recommended that you also toss toothpaste marked as “Made in China”.  There haven’t been any reported poisonings in those ones, but it is believed they are made at same place.

Here is the Press Release from FDA for the South Africa recall.  Here is the Press Release from the FDA about the China made versions.

So check your toothpaste and call (Colgate/Palmolive) at 1-800-468-6502 if you have any questions about your product.
