…is that, in the USA, it is more often than not, harmful because most of the time it is laced with fluoride. Fluoride is a toxic industrial waste. As one commenter noted, the US public has been made to believe that fluoride is good…well I wanted to put some more resources here for us all to get re-educated (photos & citations)
The Fluoride Deception This is a very illuminating video. (30 min)
~*~
From the map we can see that Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Montana and perhaps New Jersey are the only states where less than 25% of the tap water is fluoridated.. Fluoride is poison and is NOT healthy for human consumption. More than not healthy, fluoride is harmful!

- American Dental Association (.pdf) admits that flouride is harmful to the development of teeth (So, I say, don’t buy fluoridated baby bottled water. Don’t reconstitute baby formula with fluoridated tap water.)
- Fluoride is used in rat poison to kill them
- Fluoride is linked to other heavy metal toxins that found in drinking water [such as] lead, arsenic, aluminum and cadmium (Dartmouth News)
- Tooth decay is prevented through good nutrition and oral hygiene
- Ninety percent of the fluoride we use to fluoridate U.S. water systems comes directly from the pollution scrubbing systems of the phosphate fertilizer industry. Recently, there has been some concern among clean water activists about the purity of this industrial grade fluoride, known as hydrofluosilicic acid. As investigative journalist George Glasser has pointed out, this hydrofluosilicic acid contains trace amounts of numerous heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and arsenic. (Fluoride Action Network)
Brita filters out particulate matter, not fluoride. This is what you can do now. Learn about what distillation is here. Then get your very own counter top distillation unit or not. (This is a distillation unit, not a reverse osmosis unit, which is also an effective way to remove Fluoride from water)

The Truth About Crockpots…
Some people like to cook and some people don’t. Some people have the means to cook and some people don’t. A crockpot is a way to cook that doesn’t require too much in the way of culinary talent nor a bunch of fancy equipment. All you need is a crockpot, a source of electricity to plug it in and some ingredients. Here’s an interesting source for crockpot recipes I found while Stumbling today.
Slow cookers are a wonderful way to have a nicely cooked hot meal at the end of the day, without having to spend any of the day in the kitchen slaving over the pots and pans. (You could be slaving over the computer instead writing for your blog or outside puttering around in your garden or whatever! Heck, you could almost take a nap…as long as you have an alarm clock)
The slow simmering allows the full development and appreciation of the many nuanced flavor. Personally I haven’t used any thing but a crockpot for at least 3 years! I have two of them, in fact. And although I don ‘t use recipes anymore at least there are plenty of recipes available at least as points of reference. Here is a nice resource for those of us who like to use a recipe, at least as a starting point.
Now these ceramic pots which sit inside a metal sleeve or cooking can be removed for easy cleaning and for use on top of the stove or in the oven however there is absolutely no need to use a stove at all for this.

The Truth About Ice Cream Makers…
It is very hot out. A nice treat of homemade ice cream. How fun!
All ice cream makers have slightly varied directions and ways of operation, so read and follow the directions that came with your machine.
Machines are so varied, they come as simple as manual mixers that need to be frozen before the ice cream is ready all the way to electric ice cream makers which have a built-in freezer in them.
Mix your base, sugar, and egg yolks by hand to ensure that it is completely mixed. Get the best flavors for the money, choose natural flavorings and extracts. Fruit should be at peak ripeness and at least half puree. Leave the base in the fridge overnight before churning, to help develop the flavors to there peak.
Flavorings with alcohol in should be added at the end of the churn process. Alcohol freezes at a lower temperature, so may slow the process of churning if added at beginning.
If your machine requires you to add ice and salt only fill your container to 3/4 full. Don’t get rid of your salt water on any living things, preferably use the drain so that it will go through some sort of treatment.

Well, why not start this page off right with a fresh hot cup of coffee. Your coffee maker to be specific.
The basics to making coffee are simple dissolve ground coffee beans in water to get the flavor and oils. This usually is done between 195 and 205 degrees for the best flavor and colors.
Here the more money you spend, the more features you get. It is in the features that the makers get expensive, so you should decide which features you are most wanting before you shop for the matching coffee maker. If you don’t need a ton fancy features the Black & Decker DCM2500-PT 12 Cup Coffee Maker Programmable will work perfectly for you. This is the machine that I use and the machine that was rated highest on the TV show the shopping bags.
In that program they compared 6 different machines with the same coffee and the Black and Decker came out with the best flavor according to them. It also had the highest temperature of the automatic style makers at the point of contact with the beans.
Consumer reports however choose this maker the Aromaster KF 400 Coffee Maker (10 Cup, White) as it’s choose. They sited that the best coffee is made from the best beans and that the makers all almost preformed the same in there testing.
It is recommended that you get the pot that best suits your normal brewing pattern meaning if you don’t drink a lot of coffee you should get a single cup brewer and not one of the large quantity brewers.
You should also consider how often you refill your cup as the keeping warm of the coffee already brewed lessens the flavor. You should consider tossing any coffee left sitting longer than 40 minutes.
You should consider your counter space in this too. There are several coffee makers that will take up substantial space on your counter top and this is something you should be aware of before you get to the store. Have a predetermined amount of available space and try not to get a pot bigger than you have planned. There are several space saving models and even ones that install under the counter top, so choose wisely.
