11CC2W1VXML._AA_SL160_ If you are like most people, you will spend more time with a pillow than any other single item.  You should take some time and purchase the pillow that is right for you needs and not the one that is necessarily on sale.  That may be the one in the end, but look around.

You should look for a natural down pillow or a synthetic poly-cluster pillow because these are the types that will best conform to the shape of your neck and shoulders.  You should also consider thread count even though you will use a pillow cover.  The higher the thread count the more the pillow will keep out the things you don’t really want in your pillow.  It will also stand up to a longer life of wear, tear, and possibly snoring.

You should use a pillow protector on your pillow as well.  This will also help keep out those unwanted germs keeping your sleep zone more sanitary.

Most pillows can be washed in your machine.  You should run it once through on the gentle cycle with detergent and then again without.  You should then dry it completely for about 3-4 hours and throw a tennis ball in there with it.  This will make the pillow fluff back to life and be like sleeping on a new one.  You can throw some of your favorite scent on that tennis ball for an added treat.

A good pillow will last up to 10 years if properly maintained.

You should choose the level of firmness based on your sleep position, a firm if you sleep on your side, a medium if you sleep on your back, and a soft if you sleep on your stomach.

Here is a nice soft pillow I recommend: Royal Velvet Signature 300-Thread-Count European White Goose Down Pillows. This pillow starts at $27 and some change.  It is a good nice soft comfy pillow though.  I think you will be pleased.

Here is a nice firm pillow I recommend: Down 300TC Firm Density Pillow. This pillow starts at $39.

Here is the medium pillow I recommend: Pacific Coast Down Embrace ® Five Star Standard Pillow (Medium Support).  This is a higher end pillow than my other two starting at $80.  I did this because I couldn’t find that good quality that I was looking for in this firmness and because you are sleeping on your back, you really will enjoy the feel of a fine pillow under your head maybe more than the other sleep positions.  This pillow works at aligning your spine while you sleep.

Here is a coupon 10% Off an Order of $100 or More. Use code: spring10. Exp:06/30/07. This is good at Pacific Pillows.

May you have the sweetest of dreams with your comfy new pillows.
